This is a bit on the late side, but it is still January so I am going with fashionably late. Over the last few years, I have been in and out of the reading world and reading in general. My goals for this years are pretty simple and are mainly focused on getting back into reading to my heart’s content and blogging.
Read 26 books throughout the year
This is a general number to help making reading a priority again this year. Reading is my favorite hobby and over the last few years I have not being making time to read and it has made me a little sad. Reading is very relaxing to me and helps me recharge; therefore, as a form of self care (lol. am I even using that phrase right?) I want to make it a point to read more. 26 books will be most I have read over the last 4ish years and I hope to complete this goal and jump start my way back into the reading world.
Post on this blog every two week (at least)
Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, but talking about books and blogging as always made the experience so much better and motivated me to read more. So, a small goal would be to focus on this blog more and get involved in the reading world once again.
Participate in a Readathon
I think a readathon would be a great way to interact with the community and force myself to read a lot in a short period of time. I am not sure which readathon I will participate in yet, but it will most likely be summer 2020 because I am currently attending college so my time is limited during parts of the year.
Participate in a Reading Challenge
This is a fun way for me to get back into reading and lower my TBR! I have decided to participate in the Retelling Reading Challenge hosted by Cornerfolds because I tend to hoard retelling books in my physical TBR and it has been a challenge that I have always wanted to take part of. I will be going for the lowest level which is Silent Assassin and a goal of 5 retelling books. I am very excited for this challenge and the books that I will be reading.
Design this blog
When I was younger and started my first short-lived book blog I was really into the design and graphic part of making the blog. I hope to rekindle my love of making graphics for this blog and make it more personalized to me.
Listen an audiobook a month
I have not always been an active listener of audiobooks but I have been slowly listening to more of them and immensely enjoying them. It also helps that so many great audiobooks have been published and they keep getting better! This goal will also get me to read more because how convenient it is to listen to audiobooks while multi-tasking.
Read 10 books from my physical TBR
So, I do not entirely know how many books I own that I haven’t read… I just know it’s a lot. Over the last few years my reading pace and frequency slowed, but my book buying did not. BUT! I will get to the books I have and this is a good start. The current books on my physical TBR from this point on will be what will count toward this challenge. I hope to start reading through my TBR and I really hope that the amount of unread books I have is not enormous but I will get to counting them and seeing that for myself. fingers crossed it’s not THAT bad.
And that’s all! It’s a bit ambitious since I have not been reading like this in a while. But I have missed this community and reading so I am just diving head first. Wishing you guys and myself luck in all of our 2020 goals!
